Dell EMC AMP Central Product Guide

This guide describes the high-level design, including the hardware and software components of the Dell EMCAMP Central management solution. AMP Central can be integrated into a VxBlock System 1000 cabinet or provided as stand-alone configuration to manage multiple VxBlock Systems in a data center.


AMP Central uses core, Dell EMC optional, and ecosystem workloads to provide system management for one or more VxBlock Systems. AMP Central monitors health, provides fault domain isolation, and manages performance and capacity.

AMP Central management supports the following systems:
  • VxBlock System 1000
  • VxBlock System 740
  • VxBlock System 540
  • VxBlock System 350
  • VxBlock System 340


AMP Central is offered with the following storage solutions:
  • iSCSI shared storage:
    • Dell EMC Unity XT 380
    • Dell EMC Unity 300
  • Software defined storage (SDS) with VMware vSAN.


AMP Central supports the following versions of VMware vSphere:
  • VMware vSphere 6.5
  • VMware vSphere 6.7
  • VMware vSphere 7.0
In this document, VMware vSphere 6.x represents VMware vSphere 6.5 and 6.7.

AMP Central with a medium or large VMware vSAN configuration provides support for a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Management Domain deployment. See the Dell EMC VxBlock System 1000 with VMware Cloud Foundation Architecture Overview for additional information.


The target audience for this guide includes personnel responsible for managing the VxBlock 1000 and includes Dell Technologies Sales Engineers, field consultants, and advanced services specialists.

  • AMP Central and VxBlock System concepts and terminology
