Dell EMC VxBlock™ System 1000 Architecture Overview

The VxBlock System 1000 provides business agility, center efficiency, and operational simplicity in one fully integrated converged infrastructure. With VxBlock 1000, you can mix and share storage, compute, virtualization, and integrated data protection technologies.

Customization and expansion

The VxBlock 1000 provides the customization with:

  • A storage layer that includes multiarray support to fulfill both block and file storage needs.
  • A compute layer that includes Cisco UCS components.
  • A network layer that includes LAN and SAN using Cisco Nexus and Cisco MDS components.

You can increase performance and capacity with additional disks, arrays, and servers.


The VxBlock Central user interface provides multiple options to manage VxBlock Systems.

The following management platforms are available with VxBlock 1000:
  • AMP-3S
  • AMP Central
  • AMP-VX

VxBlock 1000 supports the following versions of VMware vSphere:

  • VMware vSphere 6.5
  • VMware vSphere 6.7
  • VMware vSphere 7.0

In this document, 6.x refers to both VMware vSphere 6.5 and 6.7 versions.
